Indulging in ones’ collecting pursuits on the scale of cars, motorcycles and wine, the prerequisite is space. When space is not an issue, then you build or even convert a barn. However, respecting the rural nature and the traditional environment, it is essential to find harmony.
From the outside Green-Oak fits neatly into the rural landscape with architecture that is not out of place. When entering this traditionally inspired barn/garage, the impression is given that it has always been here and possibly only retrospectively fitted for garaging and entertaining.
This collection is for the amateur racer, passionate about Porsche and that brands’ incredible sports racing heritage.
Like many collectors now in their 50s, Lamborghini featured large in our schoolboy day dreams. Films like The Italian Job, featuring histories first supercar, the immortal Lamborghini P400 Miura and the Cannon Ball Run co-star a 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400S, have forged indelible links to style and speed.
Ducati is the feature motorcycle and when collecting Ducati, you must have international racing contenders. Like the Ducati Desmosedici GP15, and the four time Superbike World Championship Ducati 916 ridden by Carl Fogarty and Troy Corser.
If you’re serious about racing, then a workshop is a must, as is a full size hoist and undercover transporter parking.
Artwork and Music are two of the constants in any garage and it is no different with Green-Oak.
For this project we selected a range of works for the primary garage and the lounge space by the celebrated artist / illustrator Mr Guy Allen. Music is played through pairs of Kronos loudspeakers by internationally acclaimed Kyron Audio.
This collector also loves his vintage watches especially Rolex, and collects Biggles novels by W E Johns.
A place for your treasures, a place to unwind, a place for the full size billiards table inherited from your great uncle thingamy. And space for the collection of rare whisky and wines, all contained within a temperature and humidity controlled vault.
Central to the space is the rarest of rare whiskys, contained within the bespoke safe and designed for one bottle only, a 1926 Macallan Fine and Rare 60-Year-Old from the esteemed cask Number 263. The operating system is our proprietary secret and key to its integrity. Suffice it to say that upon instigating the unlock procedure, the steel lined stone top drops down and the bottle emerges from deep within, to be displayed, safe in its display case.
It is enough to say that security is proportionate to the collections value. A combination of independent systems working in unison.
Although replete with excellent cross flow ventilation, automated exhaust fume extraction is essential. This system is controlled by carbon monoxide sensors and provides sufficient extraction to ensure a minimum of 12 air changes per/hour.
Heating is provided via an in floor, hydronic system, drawing heat from in ground exchangers. This is augmented by over head spot radiant ceramic heating units and two large inglenook fireplaces with high efficiency combustion heaters.
Furniture and lighting come from a myriad of designer suppliers and all joinery is designed and made in house by Equus.
